O presente artigo versa sobre o princípio da igualdade retributiva, na sequência da aprovação da Diretiva (UE) 2023/970, de 10 de maio de 2023, para reforçar a aplicação do princípio da igualdade de remuneração por trabalho igual ou de valor igual entre homens e mulheres através de transparência remuneratória e mecanismos que garantam a sua aplicação. Analisa-se o princípio da igualdade, em geral, bem como a sua concretização em matéria de igualdade salarial, quer no Direito da União Europeia, quer no ordenamento jurídico nacional. No final, analisa-se o conteúdo normativo da citada Diretiva (UE) 2023/970, confrontando-a com o regime legal em vigor em Portugal.

This Article deals with the principle of equal pay, following the adoption of Directive (EU) 2023/970 of 10 May 2023 to strengthen the application of the principle of equal pay for equal work or work of equal value between men and women through pay transparency and mechanisms to ensure its implementation. The principle of equality in general and its implementation is analysed, in both European Union law and national law. In the end, the normative content of the aforementioned Directive (EU) 2023/970 is scrutinised, comparing it with the legal regime in force in Portugal.
