Nas duas primeiras décadas do século XX, há cem anos atrás, os juristas portugueses e sobretudo os professores das Faculdades de Direito, despertos para as alterações sociais, económicas e políticas da época e para as ideias novas que circulavam no meio universitário e fora dele, trataram de forma autónoma e diferenciada as matérias laborais. O texto apresenta a primeira parte dos resultados da investigação desenvolvida sobre as obras jurídicas escritas sobre estas matérias, demonstrando que os seus autores as abordavam numa lógica diferenciadora, procurando responder acertadamente aos problemas seus contemporâneos e defendendo uma regulação jurídica com distinta natureza face ao Direito Civil.

In the first two decades of the 20^th century, a hundred years ago, Portuguese jurists and especially professors at the Faculties of Law, aware of the social, economic and political changes of the time and of the new ideas that circulated in the university milieu and outside it, approached labour themes in an autonomous and differentiated way. The text presents the first part of the results of a research focused on the legal works written on these subjects, showing that their authors envisaged them in a differentiating logic, seeking to respond correctly to their contemporary problems and defending a legal regulation with a different nature regarding Civil Law.
